Lowde, I am so tie'd

Sorry I havn't posted in awhile. I've been TRAINING. I'm counting down the days until I start my taper. 21 Days.

Within the next 21 days I'll be doing several bricks, a couple really long weekend "race simulated" days, 2 races (sprint Du and an Oly), sleeping on my desk at work, and eating my way through the grocery store. After all that, I begin tapering June 4 for my FIRST IRONMAN!

I gotta give props to all my new tri-blogger friends for your support and stopping by my blog. It really makes my day to hear from you and I love reading your blogs as well. So inspiring. I must give most of my praise to my coach, who wants to be anonymous for now, for taking on a middle aged middle-of-the-packer and helping me remain injury free and true to the tri. A few weeks ago, we were having casual conversation with an elite athlete (j) when I mentioned I put some upgraded parts and components on my bike and shaved off over 1.5 pds of total bike weight. J said to me "why don't you just lose a couple pounds yourself and cut weight that way?" Before I could respond, coach said "don't mess with my star pupal, he's 156 pounds of lean muscle, about 10% body fat, and I don't want him dropping any weight now, he'll need it come race day." I blushed. I've never been a "star pupal." Good coaches are great people. GREAT!

My boss also gets a little press here. He's very health conscious and likes to keep up on my progress and what's going on in my tri-world. He notices if I'm a wee bit tired and a couple months ago he said "this is a nap friendly office so take one if you need it." How effing cool is that!? "Take a nap if I need one." Boss of the decade candidate.

If y'all don't hear from me for a week or so it's because it's crunch time and instead of blogging during my lunch break, I may be napping instead.

Ah, the lunch time nap. Almost as good as stealing 20 minutes before you leave for the PM swim. Love that one, too.

And, I'm all about eating my way through the G'store. Hungry Hippo.

I've been missing you and look forward to your return... but then again there's plenty of time for that in the taper, and of course I'm looking forward to your fabulous race report!
Can your boss have a conversation with my boss (and partner!)?

Keep trucking!!!

been wondering what you've been up to. training is just about the only excuse we accept around here!
i can't believe you are so close to your taper. keep us posted when you can and take a nap once in a while for me.

Wow Benson! look at all the girl groupies! No wonder you are blushing. ;) Hey, I like the "nap friendly office bit" I hope it catches on. Just don't forget to wipe up the drool puddle after you're finished.
