Well, this year the temperatures were very warm and lots of rain added some nice dynamics to the weekend.
I took a long hike in the woods and through the bogs. I felt the spongy sensation of floating on the mat of sphagnum moss and finding new mushrooms had emerged.
Good friends paddled over for some...
beers and bourbon with branch water.
An unusual dawn to the day provided a palate of orange I had never witnessed before.
(this is not a doctored photo, it really looked like this at 7 AM)
A foggy haze in the eastern sky and grey overcast at the cabin reflected off the forest greens and fallen leaves.
DAM! What a day.
Drying out by the fire with good friends, cigars and whiskey.

I just happened upon your blog for the first time and being the PacNW girl I am, I had to pause. The picture of the orange dawn is amazing. Lucky man.
Seeing mushrooms in the wild freaks me out for some reason...don't know why!
Beautiful! Looks like a great way to spend the weekend.
Thanks for a good distraction from the chaos.
Cheers,
Bree
Sounds like a great weekend. That crazy morning picture is great.
I told you that where you live is absolutely beautiful, right?! Damn, if it weren't for those Montana winters I'd move out there right now!
Thanks for the trip to "Autumn"- That is some ORANGE! (Our last orange cat's name was "Autumn"!) what is branch water?
Are those shrooms edible? :-)
That mascot is called Fro-Yo. That was the name on the box. Ha ha! Somehow we got on the frog thing Year 1, --oh yeah! I remember. There were soo many frogs out during the night run year 1. The frog stuck. I saw this in Target for 10 bucks the week before the race. I couldn't resist!!! Now, as for that orange photo. THAT IS AMAZING. I can't imagine being there and having that be what I saw re: the landscape's color scheme. Wow.
Looks like a perfect time out there, especially with some Leinies! :)
(I see Wylee agrees with me!)
Way cool dawn pic...
