Up NORT'

The annual Columbus Day weekend in the north woods is something I look forward to every year. It's when the weather is usually cool and the fall colors are beautiful.

Well, this year the temperatures were very warm and lots of rain added some nice dynamics to the weekend.


I took a long hike in the woods and through the bogs. I felt the spongy sensation of floating on the mat of sphagnum moss and finding new mushrooms had emerged.

An unusual dawn to the day provided a palate of orange I had never witnessed before.

A foggy haze in the eastern sky and grey overcast at the cabin reflected off the forest greens and fallen leaves.

DAM! What a day.

Drying out by the fire with good friends, cigars and whiskey.
