Right?
That's right.
Work is going along on an even keel.
Non-work is pretty well too.
Training is going well.
Spring weather is making a good effort to stay around and signs of life are becoming more evident.

But...
Then I hear reports on the radio and see TV news and I get a little scared and sick at the same time.
"7 year old boy steals mom's SUV and smashes into several cars...". Boy says "it's fun to do bad things".
"College woman is robbed and assaulted in her apartment." My office is one block from Univ. apartments.
"[sports figure] puts plastic dry cleaning bag over toddlers head."
"gas could be $7.00 a gallon by 2012."
"employee who stops an assault and robbery of a woman at his gas station is fired for his instinctive reaction." Company policy is "don't get involved."
I like being near "the big city" for all the events, services, and culture it offers but I hate, really hate, to hear and see the bad that a big city offers too.
I did hear these that gave me some hope.
"10 year old boy competes to raise money to help pay for his mom's cancer treatments."
"Lottery winners will donate to help fight a childhood disease that killed their granddaughter."
Staying positive but watching my back.

Glad you've got some nice things going positively. Sometimes I just have to turn off the news when I hear all of that. It is disheartening.
Too much news will make you cling to your guns and religion, oops, wrong blog :) You have to find the good where you can!!
YES! You totally should book a trip to St. Croix for 09. WELL worth the time, $, and training for that Beast!
Hope the rest of your weekend stays super positive!!
See why I hardly ever read the paper? I'm ignorant, but I'm cheerful.
Yay for Spring arriving where you are!
Sounds like a good perspective to have. The other day my husband asked me - when are we moving to a farm??
Love the good news :);
I actually stay away from the news.. might make me a little ignorant, but at least it's not depressing.
Happy SPRING!
i just try like crazy to focus on the positive because if i don't then i just go freaking crazy
I noticed when I was home sick all weekend and sucked in a little too much of the news, there was a distinct change in my mood. Good to be informed. But maybe you need a news vacation. A couple of days of cartoons and you'll be good as new ;-)
This may be a little naive of me, or a little Ayn Rand of me or whatever, but I find that if I do everything I can to make MYSELF happy, all that other stuff doesn't seem to bother me that much. After all, all you can do is set a good example for others, right? There ARE good people out there, let's try to surround ourselves with THEM and ignore the assholes unless they're holding a gun in our faces.
